September 21, 2026 – Fellowship-trained surgical oncologist Kfir Ben-David, M.D., FACS, has joined the Eugene M. and Christine E. Lynn Cancer Institute, part of Baptist Health, at Boca Raton Regional Hospital. He specializes in complex minimally invasive gastrointestinal surgery and surgical oncology, with clinical and academic interests in esophageal cancer, gastric cancer, pancreatic cancer, complex gastrointestinal surgery and advanced robotic and minimally invasive surgical techniques.

Dr. Ben-David serves as chair of the Department of Surgery, professor of surgery at Florida Atlantic University Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine and program director of the general surgery residency at Florida Atlantic University Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine. He is also a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
Prior to joining Baptist Health, Dr. Ben-David held several academic and surgical leadership roles. He was a tenured professor of surgery at University of Florida College of Medicine, held the Roni Jacobson Endowed Chair of Surgery and served as program director of the general surgery residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center.
Dr. Ben-David earned his medical degree at University of Florida College of Medicine. He completed his general surgery residency at University of Cincinnati Medical Center and a fellowship in complex minimally invasive gastrointestinal surgery at Duke University Medical Center. He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery.
Dr. Ben-David has authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications, book chapters and has been invited to present his work nationally and internationally. His research and clinical interests include gastrointestinal oncology, esophageal cancer, pancreatic cancer, complex gastrointestinal surgery and minimally invasive surgical innovation. He specializes in robotic esophagectomy and robotic Whipple procedures, two of the most technically complex operations in gastrointestinal surgery. Since beginning his academic career at the University of Florida in 2007, he has developed extensive experience in minimally invasive esophageal surgery and has performed a high volume of minimally invasive esophagectomies throughout his career.
