Jesus C. Fabregas, M.D., MPH, is a GI medical oncologist at Memorial Cancer Institute (MCI), treating patients with gastrointestinal malignancies and committed to bringing the newest cancer treatments to Broward County.

As principal investigator for Phase I-III studies and a member of the Alliance GI Committee and Colorectal Cancer Task Force, Dr. Fabregas offers access to innovative clinical trials and emerging therapies. Working through the MCI clinical trials team, his patients were offered access via the Expanded Access mechanism as a bridge to promising treatment for those who had exhausted standard options and could not wait for approval. “You can run a flawless trial and still fail your community if the people in your clinic never see it,” Dr. Fabregas said.

Dr. Fabregas was inspired to pursue oncology by his mother, who died from metastatic colorectal cancer at 42. He is encouraged by advances in ctDNA and minimal residual disease, newly targetable cancer mutations and immunotherapies, including approaches that could help patients avoid life-altering surgery while preserving quality of life.
