AACVPR certification reflects commitment to high-quality, evidence-based pulmonary rehabilitation care

October 12, 2026 – Broward Health Medical Center has earned recertification of its pulmonary rehabilitation program from the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR), recognizing the program’s commitment to high standards of patient care and improved outcomes.

The pulmonary rehabilitation program at Broward Medical Center helps patients with chronic lung conditions improve breathing, strength and stamina through individualized care that includes supervised exercise, breathing techniques, nutrition support, education and stress management. The multidisciplinary team includes pulmonologists, respiratory therapists, registered nurses, registered dietitians and exercise physiologists.

Manny Linares, CEO of Broward Health Medical Center

“We are incredibly proud of our pulmonary rehabilitation team for earning this national recertification,” said Manny Linares, CEO of Broward Health Medical Center. “Achieving it meant rigorously reviewing and updating our policies and procedures, completing annual competency evaluations across our clinical team and submitting detailed data on our patients’ functional gains for peer review. That work ensures every patient who comes through our program receives exceptional care tailored to their individual needs.”

Patients may be referred to the program for conditions including asthma, chronic lung disease, pulmonary fibrosis and respiratory complications, as well as patients who have had lung cancer surgery, lung transplantation or pneumonia with underlying conditions.

AACVPR Program Certification follows an extensive peer-review process that evaluates programs for adherence to established standards and guidelines, including evidence-based practices, patient outcomes and continuous quality improvement. To earn recertification, Broward Health Medical Center submitted extensive documentation of its program’s practices and outcomes for review by the AACVPR Program Certification Committee. Certification is valid for three years.
