MORE THAN JUST ROOFS
Members of the Roofing Contractors Association of South Florida Have Contributed $2.3 Million to Help Grant Life-Changing Wishes
October 20, 2026 — South Florida’s roofing professionals work in extreme heat, respond after storms and repair damage, helping protect homes and businesses. But beyond the rooftops, these same hardworking professionals have come together to contribute to something just as important: granting life-changing wishes for critically-ill children.
For more than 15 years, the Roofing Contractors Association of South Florida (RCASF) has transformed its annual fishing tournament into a powerful tradition of giving, contributing $2.3 million to Make-A-Wish Southern Florida and helping grant 474 wishes for children and families.
The donations began when longtime RCASF Fishing Tournament Chairman Gene Fall of Certified Roofing Specialists recognized an opportunity to bring the roofing industry together for a greater purpose and Lynn and Earl Johnston (Earl Johnston Roofing) made a $5,000 pledge to fund the first wish.
“What began as one thoughtful gesture grew into an extraordinary tradition of generosity among South Florida’s roofing contractors, suppliers, manufacturers and industry partners,” said RCASF Fishing Tournament Committee Member Erica Izquierdo of Gulfeagle Supply. “One wish became hundreds and one act of kindness inspired an entire industry. Giving back is who we’ve become.”
From helping families recover after storms and donating roofs to those in need to organizing holiday toy drives and supporting children’s charities, RCASF members demonstrate that their commitment to South Florida extends far beyond the workday.
In Islamorada, nearly 400 roofing professionals, industry partners, sponsors and families gathered at Cheeca Lodge & Spa for the 47th Annual RCASF Fishing Tournament, raising more than $210,000. What began decades ago as an opportunity for industry camaraderie has grown into a cherished tradition of friendship, generosity, and community impact. But beyond the fishing and friendly competition lies a shared purpose: helping create unforgettable experiences for children and families facing some of life’s greatest challenges.
“We’re proud to be a longtime charitable partner and grateful to the dedicated RCASF Fishing Tournament Committee, members, sponsors and volunteers whose generosity continues to make more wishes possible,” said Norman Wedderburn, president & CEO of Make-A-Wish Southern Florida.
As RCASF looks ahead to its 48th Annual Fishing Tournament in June 2027, the spirit of giving remains stronger than ever among committee members that include Corey Daley (Daley Brothers Roofing), Pablo Acanda, Jeanette Alston-Watkins and Ben Rozenblum (SOPREMA), Waldo Barrios (Eagle Roofing Products), Barry Birenbaum (ABC Supply), Lewis Buckner (QXO), Danny Estremadoyro (Weatherguard Roofing & Waterproofing), Dawn Holsinger (Delta Rep Group), Erica Izquierdo (Gulfeagle Supply), Jamie Selph (Earl W. Johnston Roofing), Lucas Lucio (PSI Roofing) and Daniel Pena (GAF).
Representing more than 210 roofing businesses throughout Miami-Dade and Broward counties, RCASF is committed to advancing education, safety, professionalism, and excellence in the roofing industry. Equally important is its dedication to the communities its members serve.
