November 3, 2026– Physical medicine and rehabilitation physician Mathew McGillivray, M.D., has joined Baptist Health Kenneth C. Griffin Neuroscience Institute. Dr. McGillivray specializes in nonsurgical care for musculoskeletal conditions and pain, with a focus on helping patients improve function and return to the activities that matter most to them. His clinical interests include neck and back pain, joint, tendon and soft tissue conditions, sports medicine, concussion care, point-of-care ultrasound and peripheral nerve stimulation.

“We are pleased to welcome Dr. McGillivray to Griffin Neuroscience Institute,” said Ronald Tolchin, D.O., chief of nonsurgical spine care and rehabilitation at Baptist Health Brain & Spine Care. “His approach to rehabilitation recognizes that every patient has different goals. His training in musculoskeletal medicine, sports medicine and rehabilitation will complement our multidisciplinary approach to helping patients improve mobility, function and quality of life.”

Dr. McGillivray earned his medical degree from Nova Southeastern University Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Allopathic Medicine in Davie, Florida. He completed his transitional year internship at Memorial Hospital West in Pembroke Pines, followed by a physical medicine and rehabilitation residency at the University of Central Florida/HCA Florida West Hospital in Pensacola. His training included inpatient rehabilitation for patients recovering from stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, limb loss and complex medical conditions. He also gained extensive experience in electrodiagnostic testing, musculoskeletal ultrasound and image-guided procedures. As chief of sports coverage for the HCA Florida West/Andrews Institute Sports Medicine Committee, he provided sideline care for collegiate, professional and high school athletes.

“My approach starts with understanding what function means to each patient,” said Dr. McGillivray. “For one person, that may mean returning to a sport safely. For another, it may mean playing pickleball or keeping up with their grandchildren. I want patients to understand their diagnosis and the reasonable nonsurgical options available to them so we can build a plan together. Rehabilitation is a team effort, and strong relationships among patients, physicians and therapists are an important part of helping people make progress.”

Dr. McGillivray speaks English and will see patients at 1228 South Pine Island Road, Suite 320, Plantation, Florida.
