Florida Medical Center- a campus of North Shore received several designations in cardiac care from Healthgrades, the leading online resource that helps consumers search, compare and connect with physicians and hospitals. The Heart Institute of Florida at Florida Medical Center has cared for patients with cardiovascular disease since performing the first open heart surgery in Broward County in 1974. This achievement was released with other new findings in American Hospital Quality Outcomes 2014: Healthgrades Report to the Nation, which evaluates hospital performance at over 4,500 hospitals nationwide for 31 of the most common inpatient procedures and conditions.
