Broward Health’s President/CEO, Nabil El Sanadi, M.D., together with Broward Health International, recently welcomed more than 40 world-renowned faculty members from Laureate International Universities to Broward Health Medical Center. The event, held in conjunction with Laureate’s 5th Annual Health Sciences Best Practices Conference, aimed to build a clinical bridge for education, research and patient care, as well as address the serious global health issue of patient safety.

“Bringing together the faculty and staff of Laureate International Universities and several of Broward Health’s world-class physicians, members of its board of commissioners, Dr. El Sanadi and its leading risk & insurance services and technology departments was a wonderful experience,” said Abbe Bendell, vice president of Broward Health International. “The forum allowed us the chance to meet with professionals from around the world, converse about global patient safety issues and work together to discover resolutions to ensure better patient outcomes.”

The event included a welcome letter from Florida Governor Rick Scott, opening remarks by Dr. El Sanadi and Francisco Gutierrez, MD, Laureate Senior Vice President, Medicine & Health Sciences, presentations on the future trends in hospitals and patient safety trends in the United States, and concluded with a tour of Broward Health Medical Center. Physicians in attendance were encouraged to engage in secure discussions on patient safety issues via HippaChat, courtesy of Broward Health Information Technology. In addition, attendees and the community were encouraged to track the event on social media by using the hash tag #browardhealthvisit.
