The Health Care District of Palm Beach County’s Board of Commissioners appointed Nicholas W. Romanello, Esq., the Health Care District’s General Counsel and Chief Legal Officer, to serve as Interim Chief Executive Officer and initiated plans for conducting a national search in the selection of a permanent Chief Executive Officer. Romanello served as the Health Care District’s Legal Counsel from 2006 to 2011 when he was named General Counsel for the Florida Department of Health. In that role, he oversaw a department that regulates more than one million practitioners. He supervised a team of more than 90 lawyers in 15 different offices across Florida and was a member of the department’s senior management team. Earlier in his career, Romanello served as Associate General Counsel for the North Broward Hospital District, now known as Broward Health, one of the nation’s ten largest public health care systems.
