10th Annual Conference on Sept. 15-16 to Be Held at PBC Convention Center
The 10th annual Future of Medicine Summit held on September 15 and 16 at Palm Beach County Convention Center will bring together leading physicians, health policy experts and researchers to focus on healthy aging and other important health care topics.
The conference, called “The Quest for Healthy Aging – Mind, Body and Spirit,” is presented by Palm Beach County Medical Society Services.
The schedule includes a slate of thought-provoking panel discussions and highly respected national speakers, including: Michael Roizen, M.D., MPH, Chair, Cleveland Clinic Foundation; Chief Wellness Officer, Cleveland Clinic; Roy Smith, Ph.D., Chairman, Professor, Scripps Institute of Florida, Department of Metabolism & Aging; David Fitzpatrick, Ph.D., Scientific Director and CEO, Max Planck Florida Institute for Neuroscience; Andrew Gurman, M.D., President American Medical Association; and David Becker, M.D., President Florida Medical Association.
"For 10 years now, our conference has tackled the most important health issues facing our physicians, healthcare providers, patients and community leaders,” said Michael Dennis, M.D., chair of the Future of Medicine Summit. “Our engaging panels, keynote speakers, and other discussions have inspired many participants to make our health care system better for all.”
Added Jose F. Arrascue, M.D., chair of Future of Medicine Initiative: “This year, our local and national speakers will challenge us in how we approach healthy aging from all levels. You’ll come away with knowledge and tools to change the way you approach this issue.”
The Summit will begin on Thursday, Sept. 15 at 5 p.m. with the sponsor exhibition and the James Byrnes MD Medical Student/Resident Poster Symposium.
There will be a VIP reception and dinner centered on medical education, with keynote talks featuring Pedro J. Greer Jr., M.D., FACP, FACG, Professor and Founding Chair, Department of Humanities, Health and Society, Associate Dean for Community Engagement FIU; and Steven Altschuler, M.D., CEO, UHealth – UM Health Systems/Senior Vice President of Health Affairs.
On Friday, the Summit begins at 8:00 a.m. with Smith discussing “Preventing Age-Dependent Decline in Physical and Cognitive Functions” and Fitzpatrick discussing “Visualizing the Brain in Action”; at 11 a.m. with Dr. Roizen discussing “Why Cleveland Clinic Established a Wellness Institute: The Compelling 8 Choices You Can Make to Get Younger”; at 2:15 p.m., with Phil Galewitz, senior correspondent for Kaiser Health discussing “Medicare and Aging Issues – A Reporter’s View from Washington”; and 2:45 p.m. with Dr. Gurman and Dr. Becker discussing leadership and medicine.
CME credits will be offered to medical professionals.
