On November 7 and 8, Broward Health North presented evidence based practice at the American College of Surgeons Trauma Quality Improvement Project. The international conference held in Orlando featured trauma experts from all over the world. This year’s conference topic was “Massive Transfusion.” Thomas Ellison, Trauma Program Manager at Broward Health North, presented “Implementation of a New Massive Transfusion Protocol, using TQIP Guidelines.” Over 1600 attendees heard how BHN implemented the “how and why” of this evidence based clinical practice. The presentation was exceptionally well received and gained praises from many level I and II trauma centers. Thomas Ellison, R.N., and Igor Nichiporenko, M.D., both stated how this was a great honor for the trauma program and demonstrates the high caliber of quality care delivered daily at BHN.
