Life Alliance Organ Recovery Agency recently presented its 2004 Luminare Awards to unsung heroes, medical professionals and local hospitals who have demonstrated extraordinary support of its mission to save and enhance lives through organ and tissue donation.

Among the winners selected from sixty-six South Florida hospitals for their extraordinary dedication and commitment to save lives through organ donation is Dr. Judith Johnson of North Broward Medical Center.

“I feel privileged to receive this award on behalf of all the families who have made the generous choice of organ donation,” said Dr. Johnson. “I am grateful for the chance to turn tragic situations into ones of hope for those awaiting transplants.”

Dr. Johnson is a trauma surgeon with 18 years of experience. In addition to her work at North Broward Medical Center, Dr. Johnson is an instructor of Advanced Trauma Life Support, clinical faculty for Nova Southeastern University School of Medicine and faculty for the International Trauma Critical Care & Anesthesia Society.

North Broward Medical Center was recognized at the Luminare Awards for achieving an exceptional donation rate among South Florida hospitals during the last fiscal year.
