Mark your calendars! The Florida Chapter of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) is hosting two marquee events in the next six months and invite you to take part.

First is our annual Fall Conference being held from Wednesday, September 5th through Friday, September 7th. The meeting will be held at our new location, the Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort, and will cover a variety of topics from disruptive technology in healthcare and leadership development, to compliance, accounting, and auditing updates. For a detailed look at the agenda and to take advantage of Early Bird pricing which ends on August 20th, please visit our website at www.floridahfma.org.

In January 2019, we will be headed to the B Resort & Spa in Lake Buena Vista from Monday, January 28th through Wednesday, January 30th. This will be our fifth annual Payer/Provider Summit and we will be partnering with the Florida Association of Accountable Care Organizations (FLAACOS) to bring cutting edge sessions on successful collaboration between health plans, physicians, and providers. As a NASBA certified organization, we will be offering between 14-16 CPEs for each of these events which typically attract >300 attendees. Alongside the nationally recognized education we offer at each of our events, we promise something else and that is a lot of fun, camaraderie, and great opportunities for networking.

For those that may be unfamiliar with our chapter (or with HFMA), we are the largest chapter in the country with more than 1,400 members. We recently installed a new Board of Directors on June 1st and have several strategic initiatives underway for the current chapter year. One key area is on the certification and training of our members. Under the leadership of our outgoing President, Mike Bickers, we are working to certify more than 500 people across the state with the Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR) designation. We also have a scholarship program to pay for active members who study for and pass the prestigious Certified Healthcare Finance Professional (CHFP) designation exam. For more information on both of these opportunities, please contact our Certification Chair, Jeff Zade at Jeff.Zade@martinhealth.org.
