Thanksgiving will be a bit brighter for 78 families in need, thanks to a contribution from Jupiter Medical Center, and the Palm Beach Harvest. The medical center donated 78 turkeys, weighing between 20 and 24 pounds each, to Palm Beach Harvest with the goal of serving families who might otherwise have to forgo a turkey dinner for the holiday.
“At Jupiter Medical Center, we believe that our mission of enhancing our community’s health and well-being extends beyond the boundaries of our hospital,” said Don McKenna, president and chief executive officer. “We hope this donation will bring joy to deserving families in our region.”
More than 230,000 people in Palm Beach County go without one or more meals each month, according to Deborah Morgan, CEO and executive director of Palm Beach Harvest. Food banks, churches, and other non-profits rely on millions of pounds of donations that Palm Beach Harvest provides each year in order to feed the hungry.
"Palm Beach Harvest is so grateful to Jupiter Medical Center for donating turkeys to give to those who would not be able to have a Thanksgiving Day meal,” Morgan said. “Seventy-eight families will now have full tummies and family gatherings with memories to cherish! Thank you, Jupiter Medical Center, for your kind generosity and help with ‘Meeting the Need to Feed.’"
