Carolyn Nelson, a paramedic with AMR/Key West Rescue and RN at Lower Keys Medical Center was recently named as a national “Star of Life” for 2006-2007 by the American Ambulance Association.
“Star of Life” is an honorary title that is only bestowed on 100 outstanding emergency medical technicians (EMTs) and paramedics across the United States each year. This award is one of the nations most prestigious awards for the “front-lines of medicine,” emergency and ambulance service professionals.
Nelson visited Washington, DC from May 7 through May 10th. While there she met with several members of Congress and representatives, as well as toured the nations capital.
Carolyn has worked at the Key West AMR operations for four years and was nominated because of her dedication to furthering EMS in the Keys community and is an excellent role model for all, both personally and professionally. She also does a lot for her fellow employees, including baking each of them a cake for their birthday. Carolyn is also employed at Lower Keys Medical Center where she is a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Services Department.
