Telehealth is the future of medicine. After speaking to numerous physicians, I have come to the conclusion that there are a number of devices to choose from for remote patient monitoring (RPM) and chronic care management (CCM). Regardless of the device model, all are dependent on patients taking their vital signs daily to be effective. Most devices on the market have to connect with a cell phone, tablet, or computer. Seniors may find it difficult to sync and operate all of the above. I am not computer literate so I would have difficulty with those devices myself; I just find them too complicated. Presently I am on RPM with my physician. He selected the Link+ by LiveCare. It is so simple to operate. From the moment you unpack the box, the Link+ is automatically connected to all of the devices that take my readings without any messy Bluetooth pairing. All I do is place the Link+ on my night table or somewhere in my TV room. Every day it takes my vital signs which are immediately transmitted to my doctor.

The Link+ is 2 inches by 3 inches and weighs only 2 ounces. When leaving home I can take the Link+ with me. It has built-in GPS and fall detection. It also has an emergency response button. If I am out shopping or walking and leave my cell phone home or in the car and I trip and fall, all I need to do is press the red emergency button on the Link+ and help is on the way.

Not only is the Link+ great for RPM and CCM, it brings the “I’ve fallen and I can’t get up” device into the 21st century. The Link+ is an FDA approved, HIPAA compliant monitoring device and pendant. One of its main advantages is in its simplicity. If your physician is connected to the LiveCare portal they can review all your readings and conduct telehealth audio or video visits. Another feature is that a family member can be set up to also view your vital signs and call you on the Link+ using both video and audio. Reminders can also be entered into your Link+ to alert you when you should take your readings and medicine. As a physician, why would you select any other devices besides the Link+? It’s the best remote patient monitoring device on the market and the easiest to use, so your patients get the most out of it.
