Daniel Fernandez has spent a lifetime servicing others. After 25 years as a celebrate Texas chef and restaurant general manager, Dan, now a South Florida resident, decided he was ready to leave pleasing palates to others and focus solely on filling financial platters.

I didn’t want to wait until I retired to start my second career,” explained the father of 7-year-old twins. “I’m third-generation in the real estate business, so the mortgage business was really a natural for me.

Dan, who operates Platinum Financial Group along with his partner Wanda Wegweiser in Boca Raton, feels strongly about caring and nurturing relationships with all his clients. He strives to make each individual experience one that both he and the client will remember as remarkably rewarding.

“Throughout my career in the hospitality industry, I was taught that service is always the most important aspect of the business. Nothing pleased me more than the look of satisfaction on a patron’s face after I had fulfilled an unusual or challenging culinary request. So it makes a lot of sense for me to bring this level of service into the world of banking and finance.

Dan, who also speaks fluent Spanish, uses a combination of traditional products and innovative, customized ideas that fit the bill for a particular client. “It’s a lot like the mixing of spices,” he explained. “With enough experience, you instinctively know the exact blend to use for the requested result.”

Dan’s goal is to help everyone from first-time homebuyers to new investors to seasoned buyers achieve their dreams. It’s that simple!

Dan’s Three Commandments of Business:

  1. The customer is always right. I may be the mortgage expert, but my customer runs the show – PERIOD-end of story!
  2. An educated customer. It’s true, the more a customer knows, the more empowered and informed he or she is. More knowledge means better decisions and better decisions are always good for business.
  3. In business, as in life, it’s not what you do; it’s why you do it. I tell this to my kids, my clients and the people I work with. No matter how much of an expert or “big shot” you are, the Golden Rule is still the most important part of everything you do. If you expect great things to come to you, you need to be someone who brings great things to others.
