Over 60 years ago, Genia Offenback learned how to make her special potato latkes from her mother. (The secret is to make them small and fry them up crispy.) That was before 15-year-old Polish native and her entire family was sent to Auschwitz. Genia and her brother were the only ones who survived. Dr. Marc Agronin, director of mental health services at the Miami Jewish Home and Hospital, invited her to come to the Home and make her renowned latkes for the residents and staff. Genia is seen here with cook Luis Ramos serving Medical Director Dr. Michael Silverman.
