Florida Medical Center has acquired new CT scanning technology the Siemens SOMATOM Sensation 64 slice multi-scanner. The hospital will use the scanner to help streamline screening and treatment for coronary artery disease, offering patients a procedure that is straightforward, painless and faster than traditional coronary artery exams.
The scanner uses two X-ray projections to capture more data than single-projection machines, resulting in faster exams for patients a great benefit for those too ill to withstand longer diagnostic methods, such as conventional stress tests. The Sensation 64 provides clearer pictures and real-time imaging of anatomy, including the beating of the heart, allowing physicians to quickly and more accurately pinpoint signs of coronary artery disease and develop treatments with greater precision.About The Author
