Dr. Arturo Blanco, volunteer physician and co-medical director at the Caridad Center, received the Sun-Sentinel Publisher’s Community Service Award. Sun-Sentinel Publisher Howard Greenberg presented Dr. Blanco with a $10,000 grant which Dr. Blanco contributed to the Caridad capital campaign.
Dr. Blanco has been a volunteer physician at the Boynton Beach non-profit organization for more than seven years, becoming the co-medical director in 2002 along with serving on various committees. He is one of several hundred professional volunteers that help to provide free medical and dental services to agricultural workers, laborers and other underserved who have no other place to turn for assistance. More than 5,000 patients were assisted in the past year for over 22,000 patient visits.
