August 2, 2022 Delray Medical Center is named a 2022 5-Star recipient for Gynecologic Procedures, as recognized by Healthgrades, a leading marketplace connecting doctors and patients. This marks the second consecutive year that Delray Medical Center has achieved the distinction (2021-2022). This 5-star rating indicates that Delray Medical Center’s clinical outcomes for Gynecologic Procedures are significantly better than expected, placing them among the national Gynecologic Procedures leaders.

“We are so proud to be recognized by Healthgrades for the second year in a row for the gynecologic care we are providing,” said Daniel Listi, chief executive officer of Delray Medical Center.  “Our patients have a choice, and they deserve to know how we rank against our peers when it comes to delivering high-quality, safe care with good outcomes. This recognition is yet another affirmation of the high standards of patient care our physicians, nurses, and other clinical staff are committed to providing – and exceeding – every day.”

Healthgrades analyzed all-payer data for 16 states from 2018 through 2020. Healthgrades found that there is a significant variation in hospital quality between those that have received 5 stars and those that have not. For example, from 2018 through 2020, patients undergoing a gynecologic procedure in hospitals rated 5 stars have, on average, a 65.9% lower risk of experiencing a complication while in the hospital than if they were treated by hospitals rated 1 star.*

Delray Medical Center offers robotic surgery for gynecologic procedures, which is a minimally invasive approach to hysterectomy and other procedures such as fibroid removal, endometriosis surgery, endometrial/cervical cancer surgery, and vaginal/uterine prolapse.  For years, the standard approach to hysterectomy has been traditional open gynecological surgery–using a large incision for access to the uterus and surrounding anatomy. Using the da Vinci® robotic surgical system, surgeons at Delray Medical Center can perform hysterectomy through small incisions, using mechanically enhanced micro instruments. Robotic surgery is designed to minimize the pain and risk associated with large incisions while increasing the likelihood of a fast recovery and excellent clinical outcomes.

“It is critical for patients to select care based on three key pieces of information – hospital quality, facility and care team experience with your condition/procedure, and compatibility – and this 5-star distinction is another benchmark to help make those decisions easier,” said Brad Bowman, MD, Chief Medical Officer and head of Data Science, Healthgrades. “We are proud to name Delray Medical Center as a 2022 5-Star recipient for Gynecologic Procedures and look forward to their continued efforts to deliver better clinical outcomes for patients during natural childbirth, C-section deliveries, and gynecologic procedures.”
