Recognized for her passion toward patients, her outstanding leadership skills and her commitment to the Holy Cross Hospital mission, Taren Ruggiero, executive director of nursing services, has been named the hospitals 2009 Director of the Year.

Ruggiero began her career at Holy Cross in 1992 as a Graduate Nurse in the Intensive Rehabilitation Unit (IRU). She was later promoted to nurse manager then to director of the IRU and previously served as director of transportation. Ruggiero was promoted to executive director of nursing services, a new position, in 2008. In 2007, Ruggiero was selected to participate in the Holy Cross Hospital Legacy Program, which prepares hospital Associates to carry on the Catholic heritage that is the foundation of the healthcare ministry at Holy Cross Hospital.
