A major figure in American psychiatry is returning to the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Pedro Ruiz, M.D., has been named professor and executive vice chairman and director of clinical programs in the Miller Schools Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences – the same place he received his residency training in psychiatry.
Previously Dr. Ruiz was a tenured professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston. During his academic career, he was also professor and vice chair of psychiatry, as well as assistant dean at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City, and professor and vice chair of psychiatry and behavioral sciences at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.
