For more than two decades, Hector Rodriguez-Cortes, M.D., has dedicated his career to caring for pediatric cancer patients. He serves as the medical director of pediatric hematology-oncology services at Broward Health Medical Center.
During his residency, Dr. Rodriguez-Cortes had an unexpected encounter with children with cancer saying, “That rotation left a significant impression on me and inspired me to pursue a career in the field.”
As a passionate healthcare provider, he is inspired by being able to make a difference in his patient’s lives.
“My driving force is providing kids with the opportunity to experience the simple joys of life once again,” Dr. Rodriguez-Cortes said. “Families face many challenges, but children are remarkably resilient.”
Rodriguez-Cortes received his bachelor’s and medical degrees at the University of Puerto Rico. He completed his pediatric residency at Centro Medico Universidad de Puerto Rico and his fellowship in hematology-oncology at UT Southwestern’s Children’s Medical Center Dallas.
