Ethel Alvarez, B.S.N., R.N., became an ICU nurse at Holy Cross Health in 2020 in the neurosurgical intensive care unit. In 2021, she transferred to the cardiovascular intensive care unit (CVICU). Alvarez epitomizes commitment and excellence. She consistently provides exemplary care to post open heart patients and has mastered the intricate treatment protocols with finesse. Her expertise has enabled her to climb the clinical ladder to a Level 3 nurse who mentors and trains other registered nurses to excel in open heart care. She manages and administers complex treatments and utilizes advanced technologies to care for patients. Her innate empathy effortlessly connects her with patients and families. Alvarez’s clinical acumen, compassionate care and proficiency extends beyond the bedside as she actively engages in hospital and community activities and committees to advance patient care. She’s a shining example of what it means to be a dedicated and skilled nurse who strives to make a profound impact on the lives of those she serves. Alvarez graduated from Mercy Hospital College of Nursing in December of 2012. She then obtained her BSN from St. Thomas University in 2022.
