Sharon S. Cohen, RN, MSN, CEN, CCRN, interim director and clinical nurse specialist, Emergency Preparedness Department of Broward Health, has been appointed to the Emergency Management and Preparedness Committee as the new Chairperson-Member by the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA). Cohen will serve as the committee chairperson beginning in 2011.
Since joining Broward Health’s Emergency Preparedness Department, Cohen has worked to assist each of the medical centers, community facilities and physician practices in preparing for any type of incidence such as the pandemic flu outbreaks, hurricanes, the potential of a terrorist attack and the organization of medical logistics for a summit of world leaders, and two Super Bowls. The Emergency Preparedness Department at Broward Health is at the forefront of disaster readiness for all of Broward Health and health and medical disaster planning and response within Broward County.
