Cardiologist Laura Fornos Verde, M.D., M.S., Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (F.A.C.C.), recently joined Holy Cross Medical Group. Her focus areas include general cardiology, echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, valvular disease, coronary artery disease and heart failure. She is particularly interested in cardiovascular disease in women and preventive cardiology. A native of Brazil, she earned her Doctor of Medicine from Faculdade de Ciências Médicas de Santos in Santos and completed an internal medicine residency at Hospital Prof. Edmundo Vasconcelos in São Paulo. Prior to immigrating to the U.S., she worked as an emergency medicine, occupational health and internal medicine physician in Brazil. While enrolled in the Master of Science in Clinical Research program at Campbell University in North Carolina, Dr. Verde completed internal medicine residencies at Pitt County Memorial Hospital / East Carolina University at Brody School of Medicine in Greenville, North Carolina, where she later served as chief resident and completed a cardiology fellowship. She also taught classes at Campbell University School of Pharmacy and worked as a research assistant at Duke Clinical Research Institute. Prior to joining Holy Cross, Dr. Verde was a general cardiologist with Conviva Care Specialists. Fluent in English, Spanish and Portuguese, she is a member of the American College of Cardiology and American Society of Echocardiography.
