Dr. Juan Plate is a cardiothoracic surgeon and chief of Adult Cardiac Surgical Services at Memorial Cardiac and Vascular Institute. He is also actively involved in cardiothoracic research.
“I knew I wanted to pursue a career in medicine from a very young age,” said Dr. Plate. “It was important to me to help people, and I later discovered how much impact I could have in cardiology. It’s a constantly-evolving field that consistently delivers new tools and ways to treat the many areas of the heart.”
While technology and innovation continue to move his specialty forward, Dr. Plate also values the patient and family-centered care Memorial is known for. He says the approach is the cornerstone of his practice and involving all those closely connected to the patient helps ensure comfort with the direction of the care plan.
