Theodore Janas, a cantor and choir/music director at Visitation Catholic Church in Miami, recently celebrated his 10-year anniversary as a member of the VITAS volunteer team. Like many volunteers, it was his personal experience with hospice that inspired his involvement.
“I was impressed with the care that VITAS provided my mom and the reassurance they provided me during a really difficult time,” he says.
So, it’s only natural that his goal now as a volunteer specializing in bereavement calls is to pay it forward – and bring comfort to patients and caregivers whose circumstances he knows well.
