A longtime administrative officer at Memorial Hospital Pembroke, Melanie Alexander-Heusner is the go-to person for issues that need to be addressed. “The AO is usually the first call made, whether that involves patients/families, staff/physicians, or just about any department in the house. We are the support patients, families and staff can count on.”
A true believer that the ‘Memorial Way is the best way,’ Melanie focuses on upholding the system’s high standards and being accountable for what takes place between her hospital’s four walls. “That’s my building, those are my people, and I take personally what happens here. We have proven policies and procedures and I use them to guide me.”
Just a few months short of her 25th anniversary with Memorial Healthcare System, Melanie credits the many nurse leaders that encouraged her development over the years. She says they recognized leadership and administrative potential in her and provided the former emergency nurse opportunities to grow and advance.
