Gilda’s Club South Florida was recently awarded a $5,000 Community Grant from the Prevent Cancer Foundation to address breast cancer disparity among women of color. The program called “Raising the Roof” will seek to engage women of color through outreach and education. Participants will be encouraged to share the information or “raise the roof” about breast cancer disparity and the need for screening and early detection with their family and friends. The outreach presentations will be offered at local hospitals, clinics, community and senior centers, and churches.
