Lee Health is pleased to announce the promotion of Dr. Mary Beth Saunders to Vice President of Medical Affairs.
Dr. Saunders founded and directed Lee Health’s infectious disease practice and has served in key leadership positions within Epidemiology and Infection Prevention since 2003, first as Director and later as System Director. She also serves as Medical Director for Antimicrobial Stewardship at Lee Health. Prior to these leadership roles, she was a practicing internal medicine and infectious disease physician.
Dr. Saunders received her Doctor of Osteopathy degree from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences in Kansas City, MO, and completed her residency in internal medicine at Garden City Hospital in association with Michigan State University College of Medicine, and her fellowship in infectious disease at Henry Ford Hospital/Botsford Hospital in Farmington Hills, MI.
She also holds a Master of Public Health degree in Health Services Administration from the University of Arizona in Tucson, AZ, and maintains board certification in infectious diseases.
