Board-certified neurologist Peter A. Abdelmalik, M.D., Ph.D., has joined Baptist Health Brain & Spine Care and will serve as director of inpatient general neurology. He specializes in the acute care of hospitalized patients with neurological conditions that affect the brain, spinal cord and nerves. He has training and expertise in neurocritical care and vascular neurology.
Prior to joining Baptist Health, Dr. Abdelmalik was an assistant professor of neurology at the State University of New York, University at Buffalo, Jacobs School of Medicine and Biological Sciences and a neurointensivist at Kaleida Health, Buffalo General Medical Center. He also served as a teleneurology and telestroke consultant for Adjacent Health, located in Norfolk, VA.
After earning his Ph.D. in neurophysiology/neuropharmacology at the University of Toronto, Dr. Abdelmalik earned his medical degree at St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies. His clinical training includes an internal medicine internship at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, a neurology residency at Jefferson Hospital for Neuroscience and a neurocritical care fellowship at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
