Since 2018, Lisa Goldberg has volunteered weekly in the gift shop at Broward Health Medical Center and, over the past year, at Broward Health Imperial Point. A former ICU and trauma nurse who later spent many years in education, Goldberg brings a lifetime of experience caring and nurturing others to her volunteer role. As the visual merchandiser, she designs warm, welcoming spaces that offer a moment of relief to patients, families and staff.

For Goldberg, the gift shop’s purpose goes far beyond its shelves. “Sometimes the greatest things we give aren’t items, but simple moments of connection or kindness,” she said. Whether greeting a visitor or helping someone choose a small comfort item, she values every opportunity to make someone’s day a little lighter.

Goldberg encourages others to volunteer, noting compassion matters more than experience and calling her work with Broward Health a meaningful way to give back to her hometown.
