More than 80 people attended The Human Factor in Performance Improvement Conference held at Florida Atlantic University’s Boca Raton campus on June 16, 2011. This was the first annual joint conference of four highly respected professional organizations in the Palm Beach County area: South Florida American Society for Training and Development (Palm Beach Geographic Interest Group), American College of Healthcare Executives, American Society for Quality, and the Society of Manufacturing Engineers.
Participants attended workshops in the psychology of performance improvement, the battle of improvement methodologies, developing Lean leaders, and the seven levers of exemplary performance. The event culminated with a keynote by Dr. David M. Kopp followed by dinner.
With ample networking opportunities, the conference buzz was that attendees really enjoyed the experience. There were “awesome speakers (who are) very well versed on material and able to communicate in a comfortable way,” according to one participant. Another stated, “The concepts presented were exceptional.” The feedback received by the planning committee was that this was a “great conference. It’s nice to have local networking from different industries.”
The planning committee will reconvene in September to start working on next year’s event. For more information, contact president@astdsfl.org.
