Eric Bassan, M.D., Assistant Medical Director of Emergency Services at Memorial Regional Hospital, has spent 13 years in emergency medicine caring for critically ill patients and underserved communities. Drawn to the field’s fast-paced nature, the ability to stabilize patients during life-threatening moments and uncover difficult diagnoses still motivates him today.
Dr. Bassan approaches every shift with the understanding that patients are often experiencing one of the most vulnerable moments of their lives – a responsibility he will never take lightly.
“Seeing someone thrive when the odds were stacked against them is incredibly inspiring,” Dr. Bassan said.
Outside the ER, Dr. Bassan leads the Resuscitation Center of Excellence and co-founded the Hollywood HERO Program, which teaches hands-only CPR throughout the community. One recent event brought together cardiac arrest survivors and first responders, including a survivor whose CPR training program had once helped educate the paramedics involved in saving his life.
