Now seeing patients, the new facility now marks first operational milestone in health systems’ strategic joint venture partnership.
Sept. 10, 2026 – Today, Tampa General Hospital (TGH) and Mass General Brigham (MGB) announced the opening of a new, state-of-the-art radiation oncology center in collaboration with Cancer Center of South Florida (CCSF). Tampa General Mass General Brigham Cancer Care is the first facility to open as part of a joint venture partnership designed to expand access to specialized outpatient care across Florida’s East Coast. In addition to delivering advanced radiation oncology services, the center will work closely with referring physicians and specialists across the region to coordinate multidisciplinary cancer care, ensuring patients benefit from seamless collaboration throughout their treatment journey. The facility is located at Legacy Place in Palm Beach Gardens.
The 10,000-square-foot center is a model for collaborative care, where CCSF physicians provide direct patient care, Tampa General manages day-to-day operations and MGB’s radiation oncology team – through the Mass General Brigham Cancer Institute – provides quality and safety oversight for clinical and technical aspects of care.
The opening represents the first completed project within the broader joint venture announced in January 2026, created to develop a coordinated ambulatory care network serving Florida’s East Coast, and expand access to specialty and outpatient services across the region.

The center brings together a multidisciplinary team that includes physicians, radiation therapists, medical physicists, dosimetrists, nurses and patient support professionals. Working collaboratively, the team provides coordinated care designed to support patients throughout their treatment journey.
Through close collaboration with cancer specialists and multidisciplinary teams across Tampa General Hospital and Mass General Brigham in Boston, the center will provide patients with access to academic, research-informed expertise and coordinated treatment planning that extends beyond the local market.
The Tampa General Mass General Brigham Cancer Care radiation oncology center currently has one linac, with capacity to add a second in the near future. Two renowned, board-certified radiation oncologists will manage the majority of patient cases: Eugene Shieh, MD and Xuguang “Scott” Chen, MD, PhD.

The Palm Beach Gardens facility was announced in 2025 as the first joint venture between the two health systems. It was developed to enhance access to cancer care for residents throughout Palm Beach County and Florida’s East Coast by combining TGH’s presence in Florida with MGB’s expertise in academic medicine and cancer care.
The opening builds on a growing relationship between TGH and MGB that has blossomed over the past several years through collaborations in oncology, cell therapy, traumatic brain injury care and programs supporting veterans and service members.
