For Lisa Wasserman, PsyD, ATR-BC, ATCS, art has always been a powerful tool for expression and healing. Rather than pursuing a career as a fine artist, she chose to help others explore their emotions, experiences and resilience through creative expression as a board-certified clinical art therapist.

Colleagues describe her therapeutic approach as creating a safe, compassionate space where, as they often observe, “a therapeutic dance” unfolds throughout the process. By helping patients express thoughts and feelings that can be difficult to put into words, Wasserman empowers them to better understand themselves and discover new paths toward healing and growth.

Dr. Wasserman is proud to be part of Memorial Regional Hospital’s Behavioral Health team, where creativity and connection are integrated into patient care. She believes the therapeutic process offers a profound opportunity for people to better understand themselves, discover their inner resilience and see the world through a new lens of possibility.
