The South Broward Hospital District Board of Commissioners, which oversees all actions of Memorial Healthcare System, has elected its new officers. Sara E. Wolfer, RN, MS, FACHE was elected Chairman; Alfredo Avalos was elected Vice Chairman; and Hobel Florido was elected Secretary/Treasurer. The board members serving alongside the officers are Jose Basulto, Kathleen A. Durham, Albert C. Jones and Laura R. Miller.Sara E. Wolfer was appointed to the South Broward Hospital District Board of Commissioners in 2004. She has a wide range of 
experience in healthcare, having worked as a nurse, a professor, and administrator for hospitals and governmental agencies.

As a criminal investigation and violent crimes detective, Avalos has been with the Broward County Sheriff’s office for the past 11 years.
Hobel Florido was appointed to the South Broward Hospital District Board of Commissioners in 2010. He is a partner in the law firm, Florido & Florido, P.A., in Miami Lakes.
