For Elizabeth Maus, MS, supporting patients and working in a hospital setting has always been a goal. Now, after 18 years at Broward Health Medical Center, she brings that commitment to cancer patients.
Maus began her career at Chicago Children’s Memorial Hospital before returning to South Florida and earning her master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling and Marriage & Family Therapy from Barry University. She later served as a victim advocate with Broward County State Attorney’s Office and worked in private practice before returning to a hospital setting.
Today, Maus assesses oncology patients, identifying needs and connecting them with community resources and counseling. She helps patients understand their diagnosis and treatment plans, addresses barriers to care and works with families to build strong support systems.
“I’m their coach, cheerleader and advocate. It’s been an honor working with cancer patients and navigating them through a most difficult time,” Maus said. “Helping patients through their lowest moments and seeing them thrive makes my work deeply rewarding.”
