October 5, 2026– Kirk Bonner, M.D., has joined Marcus Neuroscience Institute, part of Baptist Health Brain & Spine Care, as a physical medicine and rehabilitation physician. Fellowship-trained in interventional spine and musculoskeletal medicine, he specializes in helping patients manage back, neck and musculoskeletal pain while improving their ability to move, function and participate in the activities that matter to them.
Dr. Bonner treats pain throughout the body and takes a holistic approach to identifying the different factors that may contribute to a patient’s symptoms. His treatment plans may include lifestyle modifications and exercise, nonopioid medication management and targeted minimally invasive procedures. These procedures include epidural steroid injections, radiofrequency ablation, peripheral nerve stimulation, ultrasound-guided corticosteroid and platelet-rich plasma injections and trigger point injections. He also has a particular interest in lifestyle medicine.
“Dr. Bonner brings extensive training in interventional spine and musculoskeletal medicine as well as a thoughtful approach centered on helping patients maintain function and quality of life,” said Warren Selman, M.D., chief medical executive at Marcus Neuroscience Institute. “We are pleased to welcome him to our team and look forward to the expertise and compassionate care he will provide to our patients.”
Prior to joining Baptist Health, Dr. Bonner served as assistant professor of clinical physical medicine and rehabilitation at the University of Pennsylvania. In addition to caring for patients, he taught medical students, residents and fellows and served as leader of the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine’s musculoskeletal ultrasound course. His research and scholarly interests include chronic pain, interventional spine care, lifestyle medicine, sports injuries and rehabilitation. He has published research in peer-reviewed medical journals and contributed a chapter on chronic pain to the book “Climate Change and Disability.”
Dr. Bonner earned his medical degree from Cooper Medical School of Rowan University in Camden, New Jersey. He completed a physical medicine and rehabilitation residency at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School/Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation in Newark, New Jersey, where he served as academic chief resident. He then completed a physical medicine and rehabilitation interventional spine and musculoskeletal medicine fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri.
Dr. Bonner’s core philosophy is to maximize function and quality of life for every patient. “I work collaboratively with my patients to understand their goals and develop individualized treatment plans that address pain while supporting their long-term health and function,” he said.
