Recognition spans acute and ambulatory care and continues an unbroken record dating to 2019

October 29, 2026 – Mount Sinai Medical Center has earned Level 9 recognition in both acute and ambulatory care in the 2026 Digital Health Most Wired program from the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME). It is the fourth consecutive year Mount Sinai has achieved Level 9 in acute care.

CHIME’s Digital Health Most Wired Survey is an internationally recognized benchmarking program that honors excellence in digitally enabled healthcare. This year’s survey represented more than 44,000 facilities and evaluated the adoption, maturity, outcomes and value of technology across clinical quality and safety, analytics and data management, cybersecurity, population health, infrastructure, patient engagement and innovation.

Mount Sinai has been recognized every year since CHIME introduced certification levels in 2019, when it was first certified at Level 8. This year, ambulatory care also earned Level 9.

“This recognition belongs to every nurse, physician and team member who turns technology into better care,” said Gino R. Santorio, President and CEO of Mount Sinai Medical Center. “Technology is only as good as what it does for the patient in front of us. Our patients should never have to choose between high-touch and high-tech care, and at Mount Sinai, they don’t.”

Recent work includes Chart with Art, Mount Sinai’s bilingual English and Spanish ambient AI documentation program, which has expanded from physicians to inpatient nurses so clinicians spend less time charting and more time with patients. Mount Sinai plans to continue expanding ambient AI and other digital tools across its care sites, guided by an AI governance framework in place since 2024.

“A Level 9 rating measures our systems, but what it reflects is time our clinicians get back for patients,” said Tom Gillette, Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer at Mount Sinai Medical Center. “Four years at this level tells us our approach is holding: adopt technology with discipline, govern it carefully, and keep the human side of care at the center.”
