Pediatric neurosurgeon Dean Hertzler II, M.D., FACS, has joined the Division of Neurology at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital and Memorial Healthcare System’s Pediatric Neurosurgery Physician Services.Before coming to South Florida, Hertzler completed a Pediatric Neurosurgery Fellowship at Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah. The 2005 graduate of Indiana University School of Medicine served his neurosurgery residency through University of Cincinnati’s Department of Neurosurgery from July 2005 through June 2011.
Hertzler holds a Bachelor of Science with Distinction from Indiana University – Purdue University Indianapolis where he majored in biology and earned the Most Outstanding Undergraduate Male Student twice, the Charles O. McGaughey Leadership Award, the William L. Garrett Most Outstanding Student in Activities Award, and Outstanding Academic Achievement in Biology. During his residency training, he received the Ellen and Stewart B. Dunsker, MD, Award for Clinical Research.
