It is my honor to announce the official launch of the Broward County Medical Association’s (BCMA) 100-year anniversary and presidential installation campaign, a milestone that represents both our flagship celebration and our largest fundraising event of the year. Since its founding in 1926, the BCMA has stood at the heart of Broward County’s medical community, uniting physicians, advocating for patients, and partnering with the community to advance healthcare.
As I reflect on this history, I am reminded of the association’s role as a trusted convener, bringing together physicians across specialties and institutions to protect the integrity of the physician-patient relationship, strengthen the healthcare workforce, and improve community health. From legislative advocacy and public health partnerships to mentorship and leadership development, the BCMA has long been the voice of physicians in Broward County. During the COVID-19 pandemic, amid the uncertainty, the association provided stability, bridging the gap between physicians, patients, and the public; supplying vaccination resources to community physician offices; and ensuring that underserved populations were not forgotten.
As we enter our centennial anniversary, I would like to recognize our valued partners and community stakeholders, including Baptist Health of South Florida, Broward Health, Cleveland Clinic, HCA Florida, Holy Cross Hospital, Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, and Nova Southeastern University’s Dr. Kiran C. Patel Colleges of Allopathic and Osteopathic Medicine. These organizations have helped strengthen care in our community, and as we move forward, my goal is to bring the leadership of these institutions together so we can continue shaping the future of healthcare in Broward County.
Both president-elect Dr. Christopher Chang and I are proud to serve within the Memorial Healthcare System, reflecting the deep ties between the BCMA and Broward’s healthcare institutions. In addition, countless private practitioners have played a vital role in shaping the county’s healthcare system. I extend my deepest gratitude to our Board of Directors, past and present, whose guidance has ensured the association’s growth, strength, and continuity for nearly a century.
This landmark celebration, to be held on January 31, 2026, is also a time to honor outstanding leadership in healthcare and medicine, spotlighting individuals and organizations whose values of compassion, excellence, and innovation inspire us all. Sponsorship opportunities are now available, and I warmly invite our community partners, many of whom have stood with us for decades, to join us in making this once-in-a-century event a resounding success.
What has always set the BCMA apart is our ability to honor tradition while embracing innovation. As we prepare to celebrate 100 years of service, advocacy, and leadership, I remain committed to advancing preventive medicine, healthcare equity, medical innovation, and physician leadership. Together, we will commence a new century of physician-led impact, ensuring that Broward County remains a model for accessible, high-quality care for our community.
This 100-year milestone reflects the enduring power of physicians united in service to their patients and community. I look forward to celebrating this legacy with those who have made it possible, and with those who will help shape the next 100 years.
