Accountable Care Options, LLC was rewarded by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) for reducing costs while achieving a 91 percent Quality Score during their second year in the Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP).

The company and its primary care-exclusive network of physicians achieved a Shared Savings of $9.95 million, or more than $1,500 per Medicare fee-for-service patient. This places them No. 9 in percentage reduction of costs for the nation’s 333 Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) and No. 10 in total savings per Medicare patient per year. This will translate into a net Shared Savings bonus of $4.4 million, averaging $140,000 for each of its 22 practices.

Accountable Care Options was among only 92 of 333 ACOs to receive a Shared Savings bonus. Nationally, participating ACOs saved Medicare $806 million. The lower costs resulted from focusing on wellness and prevention and doing a better job of managing individuals with chronic conditions.
