November 6, 2020 – Alison Schneider, MD, a gastroenterologist at Cleveland Clinic Weston, was elected President of the Florida Gastroenterologic Society (FGS) during the organization’s 55th Annual Meeting held recently. 
 
The mission of FGS is to strengthen the camaraderie of Florida gastroenterologists through top quality events, provide opportunities for continuing medical education, keep members informed of current legislative issues and serve as an advocate and support for the next generation of gastroenterology professionals. Formed in 1965, FGS looks for ways to improve and enhance the skills of its members in order to better serve patients.
 
“Dr. Schneider is an experienced physician who has dedicated her career to patient care, research and education,” said Rodolfo J. Blandon, MD, MBA, President of Cleveland Clinic Weston. She has been a tremendous asset to the Florida Gastroenterologic Society and this leadership role will allow her to use her expertise to advance the gastroenterology profession, not just in the local area, but throughout the state of Florida.” 
 
Dr. Schneider joined Cleveland Clinic Weston in 2007. Her specialty interests include gastrointestinal motility disorders, gastroesophageal reflux disease, and female issues in gastroenterology and hepatology. 
 
Dr. Schneider received her medical degree from the University of Miami in Miami, Fla. and completed an internal medicine internship and residency from Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. She also completed fellowship training in gastroenterology at Drexel University’s College of Medicine in Philadelphia, P.A.
