July 20, 2022 –  Children’s Diagnostic & Treatment Center (CDTC) received the American Hospital Association Dick Davidson NOVA award for its Continuous Care Program. Children’s Diagnostic & Treatment Center (CDTC) received the American Hospital Association Dick Davidson NOVA award for its Continuous Care Program. The subsidiary of Broward Health was one of five programs across the nation to receive accolades during the July 18 ceremony in San Diego, California.

CDTC was honored for its ability to maintain and increase access to care for patients with complex medical conditions regardless of their ability to pay during the pandemic.

“I am especially proud of how our team rallied during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic to not only maintain but increase access to care that is so vital to our clients’ well-being and health through virtual programs, telehealth kits and our emergency response service,” said Ana E. Calderon Randazzo, Ph.D., executive director of CDTC. “This NOVA award is for every CDTC caregiver and employee. They are truly the heartbeat of our mission-driven center.”

“This year’s AHA Dick Davidson NOVA award winners are leading with innovative ways to address some of our most pressing health challenges,” said Rick Pollack, president and CEO of the American Hospital Association. “The collaborative efforts between hospitals and community stakeholders create a healthier and sustainable path forward for patients.”

The CDTC’s Continuous Care Program partners include parent company Broward Health for quickly implementing telehealth and telework platforms; Broward Healthy Start, which refers children to the Early Steps Program for developmental evaluations; the Broward Sheriff’s Office, which refers any child with an active child protective case to early intervention services; and Career Source Broward, which links clients to educational and vocational training. The center’s emergency response for clients included hosting drive-by distributions of groceries, baby essentials, hurricane and school supplies and more.

“I am especially proud of how our team rallied during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic to not only maintain but increase access to care that is so vital to our clients’ well-being and health through virtual programs, telehealth kits and our emergency response service,” said Ana E.
