MIAMI, FL – January 13, 2023  Angel Alejandro, M.D., joins Baptist Health as an endocrinologist, specializing in diabetes, thyroid care and osteoporosis.

“We are pleased Dr. Alejandro has joined our team of endocrinology experts,” said Bernie Fernandez, M.D., chief executive officer of Baptist Health Medical Group. “His drive to care for patients with diabetes and passion for patient education, coupled with his medical experience of over a decade, will greatly benefit our patients.”

Dr. Alejandro earned his medical degree from Cornell University, which is one of the top 10 medical schools in the United States. He became a physician because of the influence of his father, who is also an endocrinologist dedicated to finding a cure for diabetes.

After completing an internal medicine residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital through the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, Dr. Alejandro then completed an endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism fellowship at Jackson Memorial Hospital.

Dr. Alejandro joins Baptist Health from Leon Medical Centers in Miami, where he served as director of endocrinology and played a key role in establishing programs using technology for diabetes control. His research currently focuses on osteoporosis and reducing fractures in women with breast cancer. He most recently published an abstract at the ENDO 2022 conference.

He is fluent in English and Spanish. He will see patients at 1228 South Pine Island Road, Suite 320, Plantation, FL 33324.
