Aventura Hospital and Medical Center, CEO Heather J. Rohan was joined by Board of Trustees, community leaders, hospital employees, patients and physicians for a ribbon-cutting ceremony of the expansion of the Center for Cardiac and Vascular Medicine, with a renovated 10,000 square feet to continue improving the cardiovascular service line and to celebrate the two year anniversary of the hospitals open heart surgery program.

“To provide excellent service for our growing community, we have expanded our Center for Cardiac and Vascular Medicine with four brand new cardiac and catheterization labs with state-of-the-art equipment for the treatment of cardiovascular disease,” said Rohan. “We are also very proud to celebrate the second year anniversary of our open heart surgery program.”
At the Center for Cardiac and Vascular Medicine at Aventura Hospital cardiologists will be utilizing the GE Innova 2100, all-digital cardiovascular imaging system that will assists in better viewing and treatment of coronary artery blockages that could cause heart attacks or other serious cardiovascular damage. This revolutionary system allows cardiologists to view hard-to-see blood vessels with exceptional clarity under even the most difficult conditions. Aventura Hospital is the only hospital in Northeast Miami-Dade County to have the GE Innova 2100.

The second cardiac catheterization lab features the Philips Allura Xper FD-10 outfitted with the new real-time link, provides interventional tools to improve the visualization of the coronary tree, leading to better clinical insight for stent placement and lesion assessment. The third room will be utilized for interventional endovascular and it is equipped with the Philips FD 20 system; a multi-functional large field-of-view room provides outstanding image quality for both vascular and coronary studies. Finally, the fourth room is an electrophysiology room, which includes workstations for remote real-time review as well as simultaneous data entry. Staff members can use these remote workstations to add information to the study log.
