Eduardo A. Otero, M.D., corporate medical director of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the Chris Evert Children’s Hospital at Broward General Medical Center, has been named to the Board of Trustees at Barry University, President Sister Linda Bevilacqua, OP, PhD announced.

A resident of Miami-Dade County since the late 1960’s, Otero is charged with providing clinical and administrative leadership to a group of five physicians and four advanced neonatal nurse practitioners in a 63-bed, level III newborn intensive care unit. He has led numerous local medical groups and departments, including the Pediatrix Medical Group (director, interim physician services, 1995-96) and Pediatric Department Quality Assurance Committee at Broward General Medical Center (chairman, 1999-2004).

His career as an associate neonatologist began in 1992, working at BGMC, the Coral Springs Medical Center and Bethesda Memorial Hospital in Boynton Beach. From 1993-95, Otero was medical director of the neonatal intensive care unit at St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas. He is licensed in the states of Florida, Pennsylvania, Kansas, Virginia, Illinois, Michigan and Ohio, and is a member of the Florida Pediatric Society, Florida Society of Neonatologists, the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons, American College of Physician Executives, Cuban Pediatric Society in Exile, Inc., and Miami Medical Team.
