Broward Health Medical Center and Neil Miransky, D.O., were recognized at the Miracles of Life Awards hosted by the University of Miami’s Life Alliance Organ Recovery Agency. The ceremony honored the work of individuals and partner hospitals saving lives through organ, eye and tissue donation.
Broward Health Medical Center received the Silver Unit of the Year Award for its continuous support and dedication to the cause of organ, eye and tissue donation, as well as its successes with donation and transplantation. Because of Broward Health Medical Center’s Atrium Intensive Care Unit’s (AICU) advances with donation, in 2017 there were 23 organ donor heroes, with 76 organs transplanted and 64 lives saved through organ donation.
Dr. Miransky, a family medicine physician on staff at Broward Health Medical Center, is the recipient of the Physician of the Year Award. He was selected from all donation supporters in South Florida due to his continuous support and unwavering dedication to organ, eye and tissue donation. Dr. Miransky is program director for the Barbara Zeigler Palliative Fellowship and chief of family medicine for Broward Health Medical Center. He is also the medical director of Broward Health’s hospice and provides medical leadership for Broward Health’s Advanced Certified Joint Commission Accredited Palliative Care Program.
